Wonderful haiku!

1st place:

lullaby…
a turtle tracks back
to the ocean

Sheila Windsor

When a creature returns to its essence the world can feel it is being set to rights. The lullaby and ocean and where a turtle finds its way is magical.

2nd place:

each falling leaf
opens a blue crack
of sky

Sondra J Byrnes

I love that middle line! The opening and closing lines effectively bracket this simple but powerful image.

3rd place:

passing clouds
the scent of honeysuckle
in a crow’s wings

Christine L. Villa

Love the sense of movement. Are the clouds passing over and across the narrator or is the narrator passing them? The answer is revealed, and it's a crow! A crow who has honeysuckle in its wings. Although wrongly reviled by too many people, the crow has survived.

It must have honeysuckle in its wings! Honeysuckle has complex phytochemicals in its being. Phytochemicals are chemical compounds produced by plants, generally to help them thrive or thwart competitors, predators, or pathogens.

Three very magical haiku!

warm regards,

Alan Summers
