Re:  Call for Submission and Subscription of the Printed World Haiku Review

Happy Easter!

Our Director of World Haiku Review in printed form, Milivoj Objedovic, has been
working for some time to prepare for this new paper magazine of haiku. We are now
ready to receive submission and subscription. Milivoj was a renowned editor of the
international haiku magazine, Woodpecker, together with its founder, Willem
Lofverse. World Haiku Review in printed form is a result of his desire to continue
the legacy and spirit of Woodpecker which was discontinued in 2002. We will keep the
new magazine on the modest side, covering solely or mostly haiku.

As has been announced before, this new magazine will be run completely separately
from and independently of the WHC's internet magazine which will remain the main
organ of WHC and which will be renamed 'World Haiku Review OnLine' after the
publication of the printed form. The printed WHR will be about the same size as
Woodpecker.

There will be two editors:

Milivoj Objedovic: He will be in charge of poets in Zone A (the Balkans, Eastern
Europe, Russia and such countries as Poland)

Each of us will choose best ten (i.e. 20 in total) and 'Zatsuei' (works of merit
after the 20) from all submissions and one poem (the best) will be chosen out of
them.

Milivoj is also responsible for all the subscription, production and printing sides.

Milivoj has already obtained over twenty poets in his Zone A, while I am now
launching the call for submission and subscription in Zone B. He wants to get the
first issue out in April or May. However, as I am leaving for Japan in early April
and will not be back until mid-May (I cannot use my melt-down Toshiba notebook pc
while in Japan for this purpose), the publication will have to be in late May or
June. But I want to secure sufficient number of poets as soon as possible and hence
this call for submission and subscription.

The annual subscription for the printed form WHR is Euro 20 (for two issues
including postage). Please send your subscription by post directly to Milivoj

Please send your haiku poems either to me or to Milivoj according to Zone A or Zone
B. If you do not know which Zone you belong to, please send the work to me. For the
first issue, we set no restrictions in terms of haiku form, style, theme, number or
any other requirements, except that they should be excellent and of high standards
and quality. Haiku submissions without payment of subscription will not be accepted.
All non-English haiku must be accompanied by English translation which will be used
for selection purposes.

My own additional point is that priority will be given to those works which show
originality, newness, some surprise element (but not gimmick), haiku sense of
humour, innovation emanating from traditional root and reflection of the author's
understanding of haiku spirit.
